Allis Chalmers 190XT vs 200

Just bought a 200 allis and was wondering what the difference was between the allis 190, 190xt and the 200, or if there is a difference? Thanks!

On engines and talking diesel only (no gas), the 190 had the 2800 series NON-turbo 301. 190XT and 200 had the 2900 series Turbo 301. Not sure if there were injector pump changes between the two. 200 came with the pleated grill instead of the flat one. Early 190/190Xt had the cross bars on the grill. 200 could be had with the QCS factory cab, had 3 point geometry improvements for more lift, minor changes to the side console controls, some cost reductions part way thru the line.

Early 190XT had transmission & rear differential problems when weighted down and HP turned up. I don't have the SN breaks but the transmission was improved first then the rear end was upgraded to bigger axles and a 4 pinion rear (I think). Many earlier XT tractors were retrofitted but straight 190's were generally not due to their lower HP. I'm sure others will chime in with more info. Mike

The 200 had updated hydraulics and I believe the final drives were a bit heavier. The three point cylinders were also different. The oil cooler and fuel filters were also different on the 200.
I have one of the first 190 diesels and yes, it has the light rear end. Pulling a four bottom plow, we were into the rear end every 700 hours or so. It has the manual pto, not the hydraulic pto like most later models had. It doesn't have a hydraulic oil cooler either. I later purchased a 1966 190XT with the heavy rear end and had no issues with it. I pulled 5-18's for years with it.

I have a 190xt, how do I tell if I have heavy rears and such? I"ve been looking for plows and not sure what to buy or locate one.
