Allis chalmers b identifying

Just picked up an allis chalmers b can’t find what year it is tractor number is b89346 need to find a 12v starter for it as well

6 volt starter work just fine on 12 volts unless you hold the start button to long and then it is your bad not the starters bad

Comes with a starter in pieces so idk if I should rebuild or buy reman

Check with this site and buy one of there. I have 4 A/C C tractors and the 2 that run both are 12 volts but both have 6 volt starters and have for decades. Shoot most of my tractors have 6 volt starters n them but wired for 12 volts. Only one that, that is not true on is my IH584 which came from the factory as a 12 volt system

1948 B serial numbers started with 80056 and 1949 started with 92295, according to the serial number list on this site. 89346 falls between them so yours would be a 1948.
