Dropped an exhaust valve on my Allis Chalmers D 14 how much damage before I need to remove the block from the frame?

Probably pull the head will tell you. If sleeved (i can't remember) a new sleeve could fix it. Will need head work and new valves.

D14 has wet sleeves. The rod should be checked.

What am I looking at, the top of the piston gone? How was the picture taken, with a scope? The head must be a mess. That would be my main concern.

It looks like a hole in the top of the piston with rod and clamp bolt visible.

Yes head is trashed.what about the connecting rod? Is it bulletproof or should I just replace it?

You need to at least have it checked to see that it is straight and not otherwise damaged.
