Picked this up today in Alabama. Motor
turns over... Was running a year ago.
Apparently only 2850 made? Wonder what
the numbers mean on hood and rails?

Think there are more than the listed number,the early ones were not given separate serial numbers,but still a nice find.Maybe be a state or county owned tractor.

Many were purchased by States or Counties or municipalities, so it was a way to keep track of repairs I'd guess.

Just taking a guess here, being it's an industrial model the numbers could have been the equipment number for a city, state, township or other business. I know all the state DOT highway mowing tractors here have a series of letters and numbers similar to that on them

does the serial number start with ib or just b, the first 200 had the b serial number, i have 4 2 without the ib

My ib is 3527, which is approx 1955 model. Definitely more than 2850 made as they used B numbers for their first years.
