(quoted from post at 07:39:18 01/23/16) just curious what would happen if a Delco 10si that had been converted to one wire was hooked up as 3 wire.
t depends, just like diapers. A "one wire" may use one of many different regulators, some will function as a 3 wire, but others absolutely will not.........depends on what VR was put in it.(quoted from post at 21:39:18 01/22/16) just curious what would happen if a Delco 10si that had been converted to one wire was hooked up as 3 wire.
es, it is kind of like saying, beer is beer...........just not all the same. Some people apply any experience they ever had with one tractor to all tractors. Bad. A tractor is not a tractor just as a beer is not a beer, and a one-wire is not a one-wire. Life!(quoted from post at 00:51:37 01/23/16) I akways buy regular 3 wire if I need to replace one. they're cheap enough to not want to rebuild them. The hot alternator thread is what actually got me thinking. The only 1 wire I ever owned boiled the battery when It was brand new. I guess as long as I'm not told it's a one wire when I get them I'll hook them up as 3 wire, or try 1, and if no go, I'll try 3.

Is 105 amps ok for the alternators for these N tractors?
Found an alternator on Ebay but it says 105 amps and I wanted to make sure that was ok.
Thanks.
(quoted from post at 06:45:55 01/23/16) The last one I had repaired was 35 bucks. I bought a remanvfactured one yesterday for 42.59 at NAPA with exchange. They swapped the pulley for free. I'm deep in the piney woods near Nacogdoches.
It's a Delco knockoff I'm sure. it looks like a Delco wth a smoother case. It's a 63 amp.(quoted from post at 13:48:00 01/23/16)(quoted from post at 06:45:55 01/23/16) The last one I had repaired was 35 bucks. Thanks for the info! You're a little further east than me. I'm in between Ennis and Kaufman. I've heard there's great hog hunting in the piney area.
Thanks again, I'll give napa a call. Did you get a Delco or different brand?

(quoted from post at 08:07:14 01/23/16) That is a three wire.
(quoted from post at 19:58:43 01/23/16) I wasn't downing 1 wires, just sayin. I like the 3 wire setup with a 194 bulb in line as a resistor/alternator light.
If I use a 3 or 4 pole switch, I run to the acc., but if I get one with a working switch I leave it. The originals and the remakes are pretty weak. I've had a couple that would shut down just from the spare key swinging on the ring.(quoted from post at 17:15:35 01/23/16)(quoted from post at 19:58:43 01/23/16) I wasn't downing 1 wires, just sayin. If you use a 3 pole ignition switch you don't need any of that extra stuff. The best part is you kill those original style ignition switches...
