Aluminum Weights

Ok so this has me a little confused. There a person who looks to be making and selling aluminum tractor weights in the tractor photo ads. Doesnt this kinda defeat the purpose? I mean usually you want weights to be heavy not light espcially in ag use. I tractor pull garden tractors and still would not have any use for them. Just my thought.

Maybe he is making them out of aluminum for show tractors. They would keep the weight down for transport purposes. Sounds like a waste of time and money on a working tractor. Just my 2 cents worth.

Even a Garden Tractor Guy should get it! Do you look at how many weights your competitors have on the front. Most serious pullers keep their weight frames full, so nobody can count their weights. They make them from fiberglass also. Vic

Your kidding, right? I thought they pulled by weight classes? So why would a puller care if his competition knew how many weights he had? Does he really think his buddy is that stupid? I thought the lightweight "weights" were just for show.

Aluminum weights, never thought of that. I think a tractor looks better with weights anyway so I would use them on a show tractor.

Aluminum weights are for esthetics purposes, i.e., they look good but are of little use otherwise.

In the world of tractor pulling,{you know the motor sport that pays so much money} they use those weights to throw off the competiion. Alot of pullers pay very close attention to how successful pullers weigh their tractor, especially if they are pulling like tractors. I have seen them made out of wood before and they look real. Not saying its my thing..just saying

Getting your tractor balanced right is one of the hardest things to do in pulling. If you have enough experience and can figure out the track other pullers are going to be watching what you do. So to keep them off balance some like to do little tricks like this.

Old trick,very common in tractor pulling to keep your competition from guessing your weight balance.Some pullers,like The Silver Bullet,run fiberglass shields over their weights so the competitors can't see their weights or placement.

At most of the pulls in this area, all the tractors are weighed well in advance of the pull. There is always the guy who goes across the scale with aluminum weights, then replaces them with cast iron before the pull. Doesn"t happen often, but it happens.

I don't go to many tractor pulls, but one I have been going to every year for a while the tractors are weighed on ahead so the operator knows he's not over... then immediately after the pull they go directly to the scale again.
