Another 601 PS question

Take the top section off & suck it out . Then soak it with either kero or diesel . Suck it out & refill with new oil befor assembly .Also do the same with the pump reservoir . God bless, Ken

Diesel won't suspend water any better than the oil will.

I posted about this once already... add some seafoam transtune to it.. circulate, then drain.

transtune is fine in PS applications and holds water in SOLOUTION. not SUSPENSION.

lets you dewater when you drain.. then refill with new oil.. or flush with cheap oil then refill.

Bernie:

You need to thoroughly flush the system, replace the filter and fill with 134D. There are several techniques to flush the system but all require multiple iterations in order to get all of the old oil/water out.

I saw your answer on TT, thanks. I just wondered if anyone else had any input. The Seafoam website was helpful too. I'm not sure if all the ice in the system is melted so that I'll get it all when I drain it. I didn't start the tractor today, 20 last night. Tomorrow is supposed to be in the 30s. The end of the week is going to be below 0. If the steering is working does that mean no ice is left? TIA.

You could still have ice in a sump.. I'd wait till above freezing if you really want to get all the water out. Have some cheap hyd oil on hand.. add transtune to current oil.. circulate.. drain.. then add cheap oil with transtun.. circulate/drain.. then repalce filter and add correct oil.
