another manifold question

How do I get this vertical up to vertical down? I never liked exhaust with the pipe straight up, and after tackling this hydrolocked perkins, I want to come up with new ideas. Straight down might not work... a 180 pipe elbow on the top? I never trusted flappers either.... I don't want to mess with these old bolts, and I bet they are aligned to only fit in one direction...

I would pass this tractor ever day for years he would brush hog for people and the exhaust went up like yours then back down like a horse shoe. I always thought it was strange but now thinking of it, it was a massey.

That rubber glove, and its mate, are going to your house for Christmas. You can wear them to finish your garage roof in warm dry comfort. There is a bake bean can that fits the pipe just as good. I don't want it under the running board like many little fergies, but I don't want it acting like a turkey in a thunderstorm either... I am having my doubts about this rolling into a pond or culvert, there is no sign of water in the back half, or wiring, I think it suffered from open vertical exhaust in an Alberta clipper...

Our 165 had the manifold elbow pointed down towards the floor board. Only way to go 180 is to get an elbow on it.

Yeah, I think welding a pair of 90 degree elbows together and putting them on the top of the stack is the easiest way too. I'm sorry you don't like the early 70's New York Highway Department blue and yellow. If the shade was a bit lighter, it would look like a Ford, now that would be bad....

Depending on your fabrication abilities and tools you may or may not be interested in my idea. If it was mine what I would do is take the pipe off the manifold and make a 1/2" plate with a hole in the center and work off of that. Essentially making a header.

MF did not offer a horizontal exhaust elbow for your Industrial 30 with a Perkins gas. Horizontal exhaust was only offered on the diesel versions. Also cannot find a listing for horizontal exhaust on the 165's with a Perkins gas.

However the Continental gas in the 165 had horizontal available. The bolt patterns are close, but I do not know if it will matchup enough to use.(See Picture)

If you are handy enough with a torch and welder, you could cut out a flange make a turned down elbow. I have seen some homemade examples that looked good.

Thakns for the pics. I bet the triangle on mine will bolt at a 45 forward or back, but not straight down like this one, but then, the carb would be hard to reach like that. Method to their madness? I intend to put a loader on this tractor, and I am wondering what version will be in the way- or in danger. In the mean time, just being water tight is the watchword. thanks for the ideas.
