Another Toy to Show Off

Thought I would post a pic of my latest project. Just finished rebuilding the engine, the tractor sat out for quite awhile since it had water in the oil. I tore it down and replaced every necessary component. It was just overhauled apparently, when I took the heads off the deck was stamped 5-13-87 .030 I belive it was quit being used in 1992. The inside of the engine had very little wear on anything, but went back together with new rings, bearings, cam bearings, etc. I havent had much chance to use the tractor yet though. Currently it is setting outside with the MM H320 corn picker hooked to it waiting for frozen ground to go play on. I have about 1000 bu of ear corn to pick for a neighbor someday. I will try and post some better pics of it later.

Neat one. That is the G1355 in Oliver clothes correct? I can never keep all the Oliver numbers correct in the later ones. If you get a chance to do some corn with it can you post some pictures? I kind of miss picking corn...not the weather if it was cold but picking. It was a little more relaxing pace than nowdays. Used to be you got to the field and waited for them to get to the end with a load when they were picking, now when you go out they have 2 or 3 wagons filled with the combine and are waiting for you.

Looks good, Luke. There was a G1355 sitting at Rohlfs in Hartsburg whan I went to see the parents on Thanksgiving. Don't know if it was for sale or in for service. When I was young, there was a farmer in the Hartsburg-Emden area (can't remember who) that bought the MM version, had some issues with it that made him mad enough to paint it in Oliver colors to change his luck. Tractor was around the area for many years, probably still is. Always liked those big brutes.

Yep Alan that is the same as the MM but with green paint. Everything from the over/under back is painted yellow underneath. It appears to have been that way since new.

Bruce, that looks like an interesting one. If they wanted a 2-150 they sure have bought one! Looks like a 2270 with the new tin on it. I like the re-routed exhaust.

Was it a green one Clint? What all did it need? I know the "restored" ones (I use the restored term loosely) have been going for alot more than that. The one with the cobbled up cab that sold in Galesburg brought around 12K I think. What was all wrong with that one?

My brother pulled a White 2-150 home the same way. All he wanted was the wheels to put on a sprayer. He blew both inside rear tires along the way. Luckily the duals were able to carry the load. I would like to have a green G1355. One sold on ebay in October for about $7600. The 585 engine was huge in the early 1970's.

Now those are the kind of tractors I like, real old power machines and look the part also. I would realy like to get my hands on the Oliver or MM models but not sure what my big V8 Masseys might think. Great to see pictures of what others are doing with their spare time. I am fixing up an old International 784 meantime to help pay for some more big US models which I hope to get in the next couple of years. As was mentioned by someone some of the values seem to be creaping up quite a bit but still makes for a great hobby and opportunity to meet new and interesting people.

Was a 2270 when I bought it, the cab was ratty, no AC, found good 150 tin and 135 cab with AC and put it on. Got tired of looking past the big muffler so I did a reroute. Never been sorry, I can see where I am now without having to peer around the exhaust, especially noticeable when baling hay at night.
