Hi guys, I just cleaned and replced a dltx 71 carb on 1950 JD AR. Have good spark and good fuel flow but engine wont start. took spark plugs out and they are both dry after a lot of ckoking. Poured a little gas into plug holes and she started right off but it surges. I had all the little brass screws out andsoaked it for 24 hours, drilled the three places with the aircraft bits and blew through holes with compressed air. I dont know where the gas comes from when you choke it but I must have missed something, could you people please give me some help. THANK YOU-----Harold

Sounds like the carb is still plugged somewhere. OR the float needle is stuck closed not letting gas into the carbon. Check the float level to make sure its not set too high closing off gas.

That"s from Pat Brownings site. Gives nice pictures of every passage in those carbs. I"d guess your idle orifices are still plugged.

60nB, I tried that address you gave me but all get is a bunch of garbage. Could you please forward them to me. Thank you ---Harold

the site is "jdhpubs.com". Then look under 'articles' and in 'articles 1' you will see his carb article.
