Ariens Rocket tiller?

Hey guys got a question about something I came across. Been looking for a rear tine tiller and was given a Ariens Rocket with 7 hp tecumseh motor. It is a very heavy unit for sure, but anyway was wondering if anyone can give me some info on this machine personally have never heard of an Ariens. It is not running, when you pull the cord it is a hard pull probably from setting in a barn for years. Very little rust on the unit and in good shape visually. So can I get parts for this thing cause would really like to fix it. As far as the motor thought bout putting in some MMO in the spark plug hole and let sit what do you think? Any help is greatly appreciated....

I have a Ariens Rocket V...5HP And I have a Troy-Bilt Horse 6HP...I used to prefer to use the Ariens over the Troy-Bilt because it worked great and was easier to use. Unfortunatly the bronze worm and ring gear that drive the tiller wore out on mine and I parked it. Someday I'm going to try and buy parts to fix it. If you get it running I think you'll be very happy with the way it works. PS...Be sure to check the oil level in the drive unit. : (

Ariens makes good stuff. Parts should still be available. I have an Ariens front tine tiller. I prefer it to a rear tine tiller. I tried a Troy Bilt rear tine tiller and it was terrrible. Troy Bilts are built without a differential for the drive wheels and turning them around takes "a man and a boy". Going straight they are OK. The ads they have showing a woman guiding one along with one hand is true for going straight, but wait until you need to turn and I'll guarantee you no woman (or man) can do that with one hand!!!

I would pull the plug and oil the cylinder. Since you have pulled it over already I would skip the soaking and pull it over after adding the oil in the cylinder. Slow at first but then more briskly after about 20 pulls.

Check for spark as you proceed. Pull air filter and clean it. All the usual stuff for the carb and tank.

I bet you have it running in about an hour.

Have a 70,s model rocket.90w oil in the main trans case and then 90w in the rear box that holds the tines shaft.I would drain both and refill before useing.Watch for leaks on that tines shaft so you dont run it dry.areins bought gravley and i know parts are still available from these dealers.I had to get the 3 oem belts to get the reverse and forward to work properly.
