Assistance needed with sickle bar mower...

Hi, I am working on a farmall c-21-P sickle mower. Specifically, I am looking for either a new or good used outer shoe for the bar. Part number on the shoe will either be a 455 558 R11 or it could be a version of MB 729 or MF 729. It uses 2 plow bolts to attach it to the bar. I believe the same or closely similar shoe was used on several types of mowers. If anyone can direct me to where I might find one, that would be super great. I needed a frame (the shoe hinge that the drive pulley housing bolts to) for a IH 1300 sickle mower. Posted an add on the classifieds (upper left of page)and got an e-mail from someone who had one. It's now in my electrolysis tank getting cleaned up. Also try Hoober Inc in PA. Ph # 800-732-0017 ext 2365. They aren't cheap, but they have parts.

That is a big help. If I can find a new one that would be great. They tend to get a lot of wear and when they get really worn, they tend to catch grass behind/between the gards. Then it seems they drag a clump of grass around. Thanks again, Terry

I have a P1F 729 laying in the garage. Looks the same as the 455 558 R1 on my mower. If interested let me know.

I just reread your post and mine, then went to the garage and looked at the # again. The correct number on the one in the garage is MP 729. Again, let me know if interested.

Good grief, I can't walk and chew gum. The # on the spare one is MF 729!!!!!!!!

Yes, I would be interested. Make sure it is identical the the 455 558 R11 that you have. It must have the two bolt holes to attach it to the bar. Needs to have some life still left in it. Any chance I can call you or get a picture of it? Thanks, Terry [email protected]
