Autolite or prestolite

Wandering if autolite or prestolite are the same company. Case early tractors (40s to 50s)were equiped with Autolite ignition and later(late 50s&60s) have prestolite. Also would a distributor from a 430 Case fit a Case VA.

When FORD got control of the AUTOLITE name,AUTOLITE brought back and continued useing the old (Prestolite) name that was used on the old carbide lamps used before the bulb.YES, the product was the same.I remember when the USA made points had the(N/E) stamped in the movable side which stood for (North East)ignition.Then JAPAN took over in the early (60s).If the two distributors are the same (dimensionally)it would work.The advance is adjustable in those old designs.If the replacement has a gear which could cause a problem.If you post the exact numbers of these one of us may have the specs for you if you need them.CENTAUR

The short answer is yes if your have the original factory Auto-Lite distributor.

430 148B cid engine distributor is Auto-Lite p/n IAD-6003-2J. Also same distributor as the 300 & 300B series 148 cid engine.

VAC 124 cid engine distributor is Auto-Lite p/n IAD-6003-2F. Also same distributor as 400B series 148 cid engine.

The difference between the "J" & the "F" is the governor weight springs. "J" is spring p/n IGB-252S, "F" is spring p/n IGC-118BS. Otherwise the distributors are identical.

I am presently running the "J" dist in a '53 VAC13 and the "F" dist in a '56 310 and a '59 311B. I don't see any difference in advance curve or engine performance but I am a put-put driver & mostly lightly loaded.
