Been posting on here about the carb on my b, 1944 model, well I think it is the mag prob like you all say, havent had a chance to look into it yet though, but my question is when i took the jets out of it where do they go back, one is long and one is short, it has the dltx 10 carb on it, and about how many turns out do you turn them both after they have seated? Thanks in advance from a novice that didnt pay attention when he took it apart!! tried to pull start it again to put it back in the shop and it would start but not stay running for very long so i think the jets are whacked out on it now... To get them started (then fine tune later when running) I set my idle needle out about 2 turns (1.5 to 2.5) and my load needle out about 1 (3/4 to 1 1/4).

Then at a slow idle you can adjust the idle needle while its best to set the load needle under an actual load. Each carb is a little different (some may set slightly different then this) so the above are ONLY approximations to get it started so you can REALLY adjust them correct while running.

Load needle has a short taper & idle has a long taper.

Molinebob....The IDLE (Flywheel) side jet needs to be adjusted to 3/4-1 turn out from LIGHTLY seated. Then the LOAD (Pulley)side needle needs to be 1-1/2-1-3/4 out from LIGHTLY seated. This should get you started in a generaly area where the tractor should be at. OUNCE you have it running warm it up to operating temp and readjust..Check this out also..Good Luck

Bob, there is a strong likelihood that there is a passage blocked that is commonly missed in cleaning. It is the idle passage that is runs transverse on the bottom of the stem. The lowest brass plug on the stem covers it. Ideally it should be cleaned out with the appropriate size drill bit, but absent that, a tip cleaner will work. You should be able to shine a light down the hole the idle needle goes in and see it through the hole in the stem. If not, its plugged.You will never be able to get your idle adjusted with it being blocked.
