B S air gap

Can someone tell me what the air gap should be between the magnet and the armature on an 18.5 HP Intek single cylinder?

Thank you in advance.

'Typical business card too thick. (.016) changes timing too much on these later engines and sometimes coil won't trigger at all.

Be using a business card for years, Even on the OHV engine with Magnetron coils. I have NOT had a problem. Most buss.cards are about .010 inch. I measure them with my dial calipers from time to time.

Don't use a card or a piece of the paper it came in anymore.Invest in a feeler gauge set.Very inexpensive, and takes the "must be close enough" out of it.This worked well for the "older" engines but not these "new" ones.

Bob: I use those parts tags with the string on them! they seem to be the right thickness, and work on everything from lawn mowers to lawn and garden tractors. The string gets cut off, or put out of the way.
