backpack for 20lb propane tank

Want to use a burner for weed control in areas where a utility cart can't fit. What is on the market or to adapt for carrying a 20lb propane tank? Prefer to not reinvent the wheel.

YIKES!!!! I after seeing a few incidents where valve or hose leaks caught fire, I SURE would think twice and then again before strapping that much propane to myself!

Safety counts but common sense prevails.Fire needs to be respected,not feared. I will use this myself,not delegating it. I want to do this....open to ideas.

gemplers dot com sells the back pack weeders. they run a 10 lb propane tank, but are on the spendy side. about 280 for the whole works. i'd look into a school type backpack or hiking backpack and do some adapting. or an old scuba diving tank back pack.

I just carry my propane tank around by hand, with gloves of course. It makes it a lot easier to have the tank about 1/4 full--that much propane will produce a lot of fire. A full tank is pretty heavy, and not really necessary. Been doing it that way for years. Good luck!

2 ideas come to mind- a golf bag cart, I don't know what you actually call them as I've never had the slightest inclination to waste my time on golf, but they are narrow with fairly big wheels. #2 is to find an old packboard. You could strap the tank to that. Places like Cabelas also sell packframes with a lower shelf that would work.

A regular old rigid backpack frame and some nylon load straps is all you need. Quick, dirty, and effective.

You can paint it olive drab and pretend you're carrying a flame thrower.

You can get 10lb and 5lb propane tanks from places like Camping World, but they cost $40+. The nice thing is they're a lot lighter than a full 20lb tank (~40lbs IIRC).

Most tanks weigh 16 to 19 pounds empty plus the weight of the propane.

Simple, just get the ADAPTER so you can use the small disposable bottles.
