Baldwin Gleaner model E combine

According to information in Norm Swinford"s book, Gleaner made a Model E in a pull-type combine from 1939 to 1951 and a Model E self-propelled from 1962 to 1967. Which type are you referring to?

Swinford's book does not give serial numbers for each year's production. It only gives the number of units produced each year from 1939 to 1951. The total number of units produced was 10,594. There is some information on various engines that were used on some units produced in the 1940's.

(quoted from post at 22:31:11 06/12/13) Hello----
Can anyone give us the year of production for a Model E, S/N 498203?
Thanks for your help

Your combine is a 1949 If I recall correctly it should have the 6 cylinder Ford industrial flathead engine. I think 49 was the year they went from the Waukesha to the Ford 6.

Thanks very much
Will check with Larry on the engine make
Appreciate your help.

You did so good on this, do you know anything about a 1926 Advance-Rumely no1 sidehill combine?
Thanks
