battery bubbling

my 9n with a 12volt conversion has been bubbling the battery hot. today after about an hour of mowing the battery caps blew off spraying acid everywhere. Is there some diode from the alt. that might be bad?

NO just a bad battery. my cell phone battery would heat when charging , replaced battery , problem quit, my
pickup did the same. my forklift did the same at a
later date, caught the problem befor the EXPOSION!

Check your voltage output from your alternator. Mine did the same thing and the internal voltage regulator on the alternator was bad. It was showing 36+ volts at the pattery terminals while charging. New alternator, new battery, problem solved. Now shows 14.6 volts while charging.

My problem was bad batteries, charging systems were
in fine shape. bad cell phone batt. tractor & truck
batteries also bad.

Could be a bad battery or a bad alternator either one can/will cause that problem. I would pull them both and have both checked at an auto parts store. Most will do it for free
