Negitave post (-) goes to block with no paint both ends must be cleen,cleen,cleen.pos.goes to starter relay.on the top of most batterys there is a plus or minus on it.
 
It depends. Is the system orignial 6 volt? If so the pos post is connected to ground. If 12 volt with an alternator, then negative ground.
