Batwing mower guards

Bought a 15' batwing mower that doesn't have any type of deflecting guards on it.
Frankly not too worried about the rear, where I'm mowing (pastures) there won't be anything behind me.
But don't want rocks (got plenty of those) smacking me in the head.
Can get my hands on some used 7" baler belting. Fairly tough stuff.
I was thinking cutting across the belt 4" or so every 4" and bolting it to the front of the mower.
Should flex enough to let grass get underneath, but offer deflection.

I have hanging chains on mine as most of the Mowers do that I have seen. Not sure how well a belt will stop a steel fence post or pipe from being thrown into a real tractor tire. The chains will. Dont ask me how i know.

Have a woods brand with rubber belting on front. It is about 1/2 inch ir better thick. Wirks fine. I also built a screen to attach to 3 pt hitch when using it to prevent any thing from hitting cab.

I can. Be later today. Will post tonight. Envision a square frame with the bottom cross piece gone. Has the pins for lower arms of the 3 pt hitch to attach. Has an upright in center for 3 rd arm. Mounted a sleeve on each side of main frame Then made screen from 9 ga expanded metal. Has legs that skip into the sleeves. Will get pictures and dimensions later today.

Any used mine belting in your area? It's 1/2" to 3/4" thick usually and can be cut with a chainsaw or angle grinder into pieces that would bend but yet deflect.

When using my 6' King Kutter on my MF 135 I got pelted with debris from the mower; no front guard. My MF451 sits high enough I never get hit with a stick or anything. I though about the mine belting, of which I still have about 10', but never got aroundtuit.

My Bush Hog 15' batwing has chains in the front. I was mowing, heard a stone hit. Then shortly the cab started fogging up! I thought the AC had sprung a major leak as I smelled oil. Then the tractor started acting up, so I stopped. The mower had hit a little limestone, busted it up, and sent a sharp piece forward whereupon it hit the spin on trans/hyd oil filter under the tractor, poked a hole in it, and hot oil sprayed out! The nearly vaporized oil had coated the back of the cab, and the smell had drawn right into the air intake across the top rear of the cab. Apparently air flow had carried the oil back, up, and around the cab. (CaseIH 5230)
I assume the small rock piece had come under the chains? But maybe it had so much speed it came through the chains?
Of course it was a weekend, and the only spare filters I stock are fuel filters. So the only thing I could do was haul oil to the field, and wait for Monday to get a filter.
