Went to an Auction barn this morning and watched a phone bidder and a Granny type go into a bidding war on the trap, it was in great condition according to the fellas that were standing around, she won it at $2500, considering most sales were going between $5-100. Everyone applauded when she raised her bid #, it went for far more than anyone expected.

Yep, those bidders that only the auctioneer can see and hear sure have a habit of running up bids. I hear the spotters yell yep and when I watch after that I can't see anyone moving.

That's why auctioneers came up with phone bidding.

No one can actually prove or disprove whether they really have a bidder on the line or if they're talking to a dead phone.

I knew a used car salesman once who would tell a buyer he'd have to call the Sales Manager to get an offer approved on a car. He'd pick up the phone, dial a number, and get into a yelling match with a "Sales Manager" trying to get the price lowered on the car.

It was all an act. He'd dial his own home number and most likely while he was yelling into his end of the phone, his wife was calmly giving him a grocery list or something on the other end of the line.

Advertisements in magazines such as "Fur-Fish-
Game" and other trappers magazines still sell
them. Some "Old" names may have Antique value.
