My dad might have gone crazy and id like to know. Hes telling me that cockshutt built the first tractor over 100hp and white discountined it because it was too big. Has anybody heard of a prototype or anything else like this. Thanks for any and all input.

He may be refering to the 580. Search back thru the archives and go to Youtube and search for the video that someone posted. It was built with the 354 Perkins engine but I think only a few were made then dropped just as White bought Cockshutt.

O. K. Here The later 1900 Olivers with the N series engine had just 100 Horse Power at the PTO. They were introduced in 1962. The 580 Cockshutt has a 354 Perkins with 100 engine horse power, not 100 at the PTO or the drawbar. This is in the same time period. Remeber Cockshutt brough the Perkins engine to North America, not M-F in a farm tractor. White Motor Company brought the 354 Perkins to North American as an optional engine in the PDQ White truck before the 580 or the 1850 Oliver. It gets to be an interesting story.
