Belarus 572

We are going to look at a Belarus 572 in a couple days, it has 900 hours on it, a 1993 model, 4x4 with allied loader, cab. The guy wants 8000 for it, is this good? Is there anything in particular to look at on these tractors when checking them over? From what he says it has had an easy life so far. I am not sure if they have air conditioning, but that is not a necessity. Just was wondering about the quality of these tractors and if it was a fair price, thanks.

I once wanted to buy a Belarus because there cheap -- but I couldn't find any one who would tell me there worth the money -- parts may be very hard to get --- like any thing else -- you get what you pay for ...... good luck !

We had a dealer for them here for a while. He sold the crap out of them because they were cheap. Like Joe says below, parts might be a problem. The dealer said that when they came in for their 100 hour service, everything was loose, but after that,I never heard anybody really complain about the quality. Of course, that could be that nobody wanted to admit being screwed. Never saw one with air conditioning. Resale value was next to nothing on them.

If he got 900 hours out of it in 14 years it must have been a good one.Neighbor replaces head gasket a couple times a year so there must be parts for them. I hope someone with real experience will join in.

Parts are available at salvage yards, because thats where most of them are. SIL has one, can't afford to run it, can't afford to get rid of it, got too much invested in parts

I've been around the 805/825 which are the next size up from the 570/572

Look at the rear rims around the bolt hole, seen stress fractures in the rims

On loader tractors watch the castings between engine / trans, seen Belarus broke in half, and welded back together.

I'd say for 900 hours it likely has not done much work....

Never saw one with A/C, but they do have fan/blower and a pop up sun roof panel for ventilation

Offer him $1200, $700 is about what the loader is worth. The rest of the tractor at $500 would be scrap value. My advice stay away. For $8000 buy a 35 year old American tractor completely rebuild it and still be money ahead, plus it will be 100 times more reliable and you can still get parts.

A friend of mine bought one with around 900 hours on a farm sale a couple years ago.He didn't want it,but it got down to 1500 before anyone bid.He bought it for 2300.It ran cheap on fuel, but had major oil leaks everywhere and was very awkard to operate.I'm not sure what he did with it,i don't think he used it at all last year.

I"ve got to jump in here and add my 2 cents.
Bought a 570 used with about 900 hours for $4k and that was 5yrs ago. The girl is rough built, surfaces leak, good tires, air/con, radio, but........it is difficult to learn the gear pattern. The wiring is a mess, had to rewire most of it to just get the lights to burn. The switches are junk. The good part, she is good on diesel. I use her to pull a JD 635 rd baler, all day, without any complaints. Would I buy another one, probably if the price was right. Have not had any problems getting parts for it. In fact, just got a side window for it a month ago. The bad part is the clutches don"t last long pushing a loader bucket. It"s just a weird built tractor by the largest tractor manuf in the world.

I've got an 825 4x4 and cab and loader I'll say 2 good things about it, it starts easy and is easy on fuel. Other than that I'd NEVER have another one :>(

that sounds about right --- I did hear of a farmer who had one -- the carburetor was bad -- he looked for over a year for a replacement -- after that I lost track -- he may have junked it..

I thought the shift pattern was weird but picked up on it quick, hard to get used to TWISTING the gear shift, lets see haven't drove one in years, enjoyed hauling on the road with the 805: Push clutch in, turn hard left to range gate, shove forward for high range, pull back to neutral, twist to middle gear gate, pull back for "6th", let clutch out. rev it out, shove into neutral, twist left to next gate, shove ahead to "7th", rev it out, pull back into "8th", wind it out, shove ahead to neutral, turn to middle gate, let to revs die WAY down, shove ahead into "9th" And get going full speed, clutchless shifts possible up and down on the road same as a big truck, It was a very smooth shifting trans.

now that damn "reducer pedal"...that is a royal pain, never had ANY luck getting anything other than grinding, except disking and stabbing clutch quick and reducer with other foot, hi to low....forget low to high even on a roll on the road. I'd rev match 9th to 8th before going 9th hi to 9th low despite 9th lo being perfectly between 8th hi and 9th hi

There are 6 0r 7 companies that make the tractors relabeled and sold as Belarus. The company that makes the 250/300 series seem to give the other companies tractors a bad name. The 500/800 are much better.
Its cheaper to mail order most parts than drive to a dealer. Can get parts mailed direct from the main office in Wisconsin, a couple very good dealers or an independent place-- belarusparts.com, if I remember right.
also there is Alex, who sends parts right from the factories in the former soviet states.
Can join a couple of belarustractor groups on yahoo to talk with other owners and a company rep.

I'd hate to know how bad the rest were when the 500/800 series was the pinnacle of what Belarus sold.....
The only feature our 520 possesed was good fuel efficiency.
