best engine kit for pulling

What is the best engine kit to put in a farmall M for pulling? Should the pistons be as big as you can get them? I am thinking they should, but I just want to check. What should you do to a M if you want to pull with it, and you want to win? Lets just say for instance, that money isnt an issue. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

That is ridiculous. Why would you spend $17,000 on building a motor? There are people starving in the world.

Tom,
What is the recipe to building a dc that can whoop a 150 horse M. I have a few cases and would like to know how to do it cheaply. If you don't want to tell the secrets in the open forum you can e-mail me. thanks

Sorry to kick yer furry puppy, BUT, Let em starve, I'm still building a motor the way I want it. Thats why I work..

I can"t figure out why people spend so much money to win a ten dollar trophy or 20 bucks. I pull CASE tractors too and don"t have alot invested and I win often too! Dave S

Spending money on a pulling tractor for a trophy isnt any different than spending $20k on a bass boat or buying a fancy deer rifle that gets used once a year.

I have a $150 shotgun and a $500 dollar jon boat. Still shoot deer and still catch fish. Not how much you spend it's how you use what you have and still enjoy it! I'd take the money invested in 2 hot pullers and pay off my mortage. Then you'd see me smile! Maybe even upgrade my 15 year old pick up.

Ok children, lets go over this...
Us guys like to WIN,,,when we don't we build something better and we twist and turn the rules, until this really isn't antique tractor pulling anymore. Our tractors become V-8 3,000 RPM hot rods, and we start hating each other...This is for FUN! So while you guys are having FUN spending $17,000 dollars on some 150 hp Farmall M, i will just keep pulling with my $900 Stock Super H and keep kicking guys rears on gravel tracks where the secret is balance, not POWER!!! It's something to think about...

I just cant believe someone was dumb enough to spend 17K and only get 150hp! Thats the true tragedy here...Of course isnt it the same club where someone supposedly had a 15k moline motor or something like that..and people were upset.ITS ONLY 4 mph guys!!

If it's you who has the job. You who makes the money. Your tractor. Youre the one spending money on the damn thing. And you are having fun. Who really cares how much you spend on it or what you do to it. ITS YOUR MONEY THAT YOU EARNED!!!!!!!

And, I know alot of guys that have alot of money and horsepower into their tractors. They still have alot of fun, are competitive, and most are some of the best of freinds with eachother. So i think some of you guys need to go to some other pulls around and see how people can pull and get along and have alot of fun doing it. The friends you make and the memories that are made is what its all about.

You are a complete idiot if it costs you 15,000 + to build a motor. I have nothing against people spending money, but obviously those of you that spend that much on a motor when it can be built a lot cheaper need to go back to school. I have buddies that have pulling tractors in the hundreds of horses and dont spend anymore than 5000 on the entire tractor. If you are smart you will look around and consider the best options including tractors that dont cost quite as much to build. Tractor pulling is fun, no one can deny that, and you are right people can do what they want with their money, but ive seen what it takes to win these things and if you use your head you will not have to pour out your savings.
