BF Avery V toolbox

I looked at a BF Avery V today and noticed it had a toolbox. Was this an original item or had someone added it? It was mounted under the frame rail below the carb. It looked like it had been added but the paint looked original. Have never seen one similar.

toolbox was factory mounted under the driver seat. have never seen one any other place. looks like someone moved it to frame rail

I'd like to see a picture of the origional tool box mounted under the seat, never seen one of them. Thanks, John

Is this an original toolbox that has been moved to the frame rail? If so how was it mounted under the seat. Pictures would help. I've also noticed some restored tractors with the hood decal of BF Avery and some with just Avery.. Which is correct? Thanks

See those 2 holes in the top by them under the seat. I don't know if they were factory or not I have ran across them on other brands also. May have been dealer installed.

John; I have an "A" and a "V" with original tool boxes mounted under the seat. When you come to pick up your stuff I will show them to you. The box shown in the above pictures is the correct tool box.

Slide the tool box out of it's housing. Take the one big bolt out of the center of the seat. The original seat bolt is a ( I belive 5/8 or 3/4 inch carriage bolt) Place the bolt down through the seat and the tool box housing (You can use which ever hole you want) And place nut on bolt and tighten. The bolt and nut must not be too long or the box will not slide in and out. The box hangs crossways on the bracket.(90 degrees to the seat bracket.)

On the smaller V models, all of the original tractors (from factory--no restoration) I have seen only have the AVERY lettering--no B F initials. On the other hand, all of the originals of the larger tractors A and R have the full BF AVERY letters. I have seen several restored V's with the BF AVERY. The only decals that are available have the full B F AVERY. I think some while restoring their Vs have cut the BF off the decal (I did) while others have not.
