What is the best crank case to use on a really big 5 Star? It may see a beating every now and again so I want to start with a tuff one! Any help would be great

700 is done all the time. Try for 780 + 800. Will it be NATPA legal?

Sorry AC, didn't know you were the foremost expert on building big 4-cylinders...If you could explain 800+ and reliable/Division IV legal, I would be impressed...Good Luck and don't say Doug Henderson could do it, because it hasn't happened!

6" x 7.5. The rod ratio would suck, but you could get Dieselbear's solid blocks and go to a 6" bore, for 849 cubes. I'm sure he would be happy to sell you a set. I think there are a new guys in NATPA running them. If you wanted to run water, 5.75 x 7.5". for 780 cubes. There are a few out there with ALOT of pulls on them. No one said anything about dependable, but I bet it would be more rugged than some of the other stuff out there. The original poster was "EXTREMEIST" so, I figured he wanted to know what "EXTREME" cubes were. Maybe he'll decide to spend a buck, and go big. If it does not have to be NATPA legal, your numbers would get alot better by using G blocks or 800 blocks, but since the NATPA has a slant against Molines, your screwed. But, I am no expert, and I didnt mention any names. Sounds like someone has a little axe to grind.....AC

Maybe you should read a little bit closer. He says 700 is done all the time and he should try for 780 to 800. Not only could DH build one he is currently doing just that. 6 inch bore x 7.125 stroke and it will be in a 5 star and it will be Div 4 legal and it wont cost 50,000 like the one being built in MO.

Not only is DH pretty handy with a mill but he"s also pretty skilled with the dyno. I"ve seen way too many of his big engines go literally hundreds of hooks with little or no trouble whatsoever. He will also build as big or as small as you can afford and his rates are reasonable.

He stands behind his work (which is risky after watching the way pullers drive and tinker). I"m glad I gotten to know him and grateful for his assistance on our penny pinching puller UB even when he had much bigger projects to work on.

You can e-slam Henderson Power all you want. DH will get more of my business. I say, as an engine builder and a friend, they don"t come much better.
