Whatever happenend to these monsters is it true that some came with TV's?Did they ever make an impact on large farms.

I think the Huterites West of Spokane use one. and I have seen a couple For sale in the the last 4 years here in town...They had KT Cummins power.

Worked on a grain farm yrs. ago and the man bought a new 1586 and put a TV in it so his wife could watch her soaps .

theres still some around up in the wheat belt, when they were new they were the largest most powerfull ag tractor made, and they were reliable and used common parts for running gear so if it did break, it could be fixed in a good farm shop,what happened to them is some of todays big monster tractors can do the same work on half the fuel per hour

Big Buds were made about 160 miles west of me. You see them in Eastern Montana. You could get them with all makes of engines. Parts are still being made for them. If can get yours refurbised and fixed up like new.

There are at least 3 here in the Thumb of Michigan pulling tiling machines. The company went out of business in the 80s due to the poor farm economy.

Wasn't it something to do with transmissions that put them under? I seem to recall that they had a bunch of orders,had something like 70 tractors built,all but installing the transmissions,but the company they were getting them from didn't deliver them on time. Seems like they sat idle for several months waiting. Maybe I'm all wet on that,but,it wouldn't be the first time,won't be the last.

There has been one for sale lately in the Green Sheet Farm Forum. I don't remember what he was asking for it but could check if anyone is interested.

Have a neighbor that bought a used one years ago and is still using it. I don't know what kind of repairs he has done to it. But a couple of years ago he told me he bought a 64 ft. cultivator to pull behind it. Tough old machine.

I have been around the 16V Big Bud with 12 wheels on the ground it is impressive. Googling it has many hits. Tractor data.com works well. I have worked with several people who worked at BigBud in the 80s. Nice folk making big tractors. The use of stock manufactured components keeps them rebuildable. JimN
