whats some of the biggest updraft carbs available. What are they off of. I'm in search of one to support a high rpm puller
1.5 IN HG OR 3 IN HG top measurement standards were typed wrong. Sorry(quoted from post at 12:05:27 03/18/11) Is those cfm numbers at current 1inhg standard or at the older rating 5 inhg standard ?
lease read both pages of this article from a guy that wi50 says has no clue. that would be ?(quoted from post at 15:20:30 03/18/11)
How fast do you intend to run the engine? 4 or 6 cyl? Are you allowed to run a fabricated manifold? Plenum size will play into the signal sent to the carb. Also one with a booster venturi will help a small engine pull a big carb, or makeing a custom venturi with a booster in a certain carb will help.
A NAR7B may be a good cantidate, or a NAR9B. It's going to depend on other factors.
Hall Scott engines run a big cast updraft, thogh not single barrel.
Contential ran them a bit larger upper body than the JD7700 gas combine carb if you had to stay with the "ag use" type of rule. Bored out and worked over with custom parts they can support a lot of engine.
If you don't need to use a "single barrel" use a Holley upside down. It'll take a little work to the float bowls, etc but it will work up-draft, and be a much better unit than anyof the above mentioned units. I've heard of the Predator carbs used upside down, though the Holley may be a better choice.
