Block Heaters

I have a older model Case 1370. She's not the easiest one to get started on these cold days. It does not have a block heater and I was thinking about buying one of these "magnet block heaters". Does anyone have any thoughts on these? Do they work ?

If you choose a heater make sure that you use the right size cord for it. Local road commission barn burned down a few years ago because the guys didn't use the right gauge extension cord.

They work...yes.

But the one I bought was a meager 600 watts. It was the biggest one I could find too. So, unless you can get 'em bigger than mine, don't get in a hurry about it.

If there is a place to put block heater do so. if not find the biggest tank heater you can find and put that on.a magnetic heater will not be big enough to do anything except waste electricity.

I've got one (don't know how many watts) that works just fine. As long as the tractor is out of the wind, it will heat up real nice.

In my experience, the magnetic heaters do next to nothing.

Get a real block heater that goes in where a casting plug is, or get at least a 1500 watt tank heater.

If its any thing like my 930 it should have a manifold heater and if it works you should be able to get by with it. I know my 930 will start easy no matter how cold it is as long as it has a good hot battery and I use the manifold heater. Now if you still want to add a heat the only way to go is one the warms up the coolant because the ones that warm up the oil can burn the oil and they also don't warm up the whole engine but the coolant heaters warm up the whole engine

Not too, bad, Old! Just been piddlin' around up here. Even had some snow last week. First day all year that the cats weren't on the front porch waiting to be fed. The wimps.....

Sort of wish we would get a tad bit of snow. Sure would help with the deer hunting. They seem to hide well with out the snow. LOL

Can't say yes or no to that but I would think if its diesel it would because my 930 has it and I would think they would have done what they did on the 930 to that one also

I always liked frost plug heaters.

I was never impressed with the magnetic heaters. I used the external tank heater and found they worked very well.

It Just my 2 cent but you should have two plugs in the left side of the block.Go to CASE IH get the regular heaters for it requires 2 i think you will be lot more pleased.The are a stick type.

The only thing the magnetic heaters are good for is defrosting a fuel filter, if it gels. Use a freeze plug heater if you can, or a tank heater, or a lower rad hose heater, all work better!
