just curiuos, i'm in need of a auger but don't have one, i have an old silo blower but don't need one. would i be alright to use a AC blower with the fold down feed table, to blow oats up into the grainry instead of an auger ? has anyone done this & what were some of the pro's & con's ? thanks

Dad used a Papec silo filler to blow oats in a grainary about 20-25 feet high back in the 1940s. It worked just fine.

Find a cyclone from an old mixmill or hammermill and you will be in business.

lot of people have used the blower to et their oats into the grainery. The Allis is a good blower to do just that.

The owner's manual for a Ford 618 blower calls it a 'grain and forage blower'. No reason it shouldn't work. Probably faster, too.

Lots of people did that years ago. I don't recommend doing that with corn or beans that will be sold (due to crackage) but I remember a couple of guys that were able to do it with out damage to the seed. The old blower we used to have was called (IH model 40) a universal blower. I would buy one to have today if one came along. I think the manual is still around and I might look to see if there is a chart for speed relative to different materials.

Years ago my dad used our Gehl blower to blow oats onto an overhead bin. It worked good, but a word to the wise. Don't run the blower over half speed and run the oats in as fast as possible (within reason). Other wise the air will blow the oats out of the bin as fast as you blow them in.
