Blue streak Points.

I called Napa today to order a set of blue streak points as you guys had suggested. Did you know that Echlin and Blue Streak merged. Now if you call Napa with the Blue Streak # you get the Echlin or Napa #.

"Back in the day" I would only use Echlin ignition in my shop. We had poor experiences with Blue Streak. I ordered a set of points from NAPA today for a customers Corvette because I wanted Echlin. They may have been old stock but they sure were Echlin. I hope the Blue Streak quality fades away and Echlin quality remains whatever the name. The Canadian customer price on the points was $29.95. Ouch!

LOL, That is doggone high.

Problem is...

When compaired to the other junk...

They are worth it.

Actually......as I heard it....or read it.....Standard Motor Parts bought Echlin & Borg Warner. Standard sells Blue Streak points. Finding them is a challenge because not all auto stores carry them & even some major companies (e.g., NAPA) will stock them in some stores & not others.

Either Echlin or Standard Ignition Blue Streak sets are worth bringing home. The sets in the tune up kits should be discarded.

When i get those int he tune up kits, I keep them in zip lock bags to preserve them, and I use them for 'just in case' situations.

otherwise it's napa / blue streak or standard ignition.. etc.. depending on what jobber i'm near..

Thanks for the info soundguy. I take it the standard brand is better than the napa brand. Are there packages where u can buy everything? Or just everything seperate? And are the standard parts available at NAPA?

Do you post from the modern side? I post from classic.. I've seen some issues from posts between the two sides.. they don't always 'mesh' perfectly.

USA points are usually good, cheep imports are usually bad.
Points can be filed many times over.
