boring a JDB block

can I bore out a 4.5 inch 175 CI block to fit late model 4 11/16 B pistons with .045 overbore?

4.5 = 4.500 + 0.045 = 4.545 is a lot smaller than 4 11/16 = 4.6275. You need a 0.1875 overbore to fit those pistons.

Looks like to me that the 4 11/16 pistons are .045. That would make them 4.7325.

OK I reread the question. 4 11/16 is not 4.6275. It is 4.6875.

It would be just under a quarter inch , so 1/8 inch per side. I don't think you will get into the water jacket yet. But what about the head gasket??

I believe you can take it to the 4 11/16 standard bore. Not sure about an additional .045.
