Brake controller problem

Went to use my trailer yesterday and brakes kept locking up no matter how i set them. All ten lights would light up regardless how it was set min or max. Finally had to unplug the whole thing to keep from flat spotting the tires.

A few guesses.
1)Short in your wiring. Not unusual for a wire to get cut or pinched on a trailer.
2)The circuit board (controller) that varies the current to the brakes has gone bad.

Mine did the same thing. I hooked up the trailer to a friends truck and it worked perfect. I bought a new controller and have had no more problems. Bob

you using a 6 pin to 7 pin adapter? many of them have power and brake power reversed and you have to swap them!

Ooohhhh. Good thought.

If that is the case, strahl, every adapter of that type I've seen can be opened up and the wires (black and blue) swapped with nothing but a small Phillips screwdriver. Sure hope it's as simple as that.

yep.. seen the same.. wapped a trailer from my truck to the wifes truck.. mine is 6 pin and trrailer is 6 pin.. her truck is 7.. I hit the store and got the adapter and plugged in.. controller said error and brakes were locked.. then figured out ya had to swap the wire.
