Brake Cross Shaft

I am looking for the left brake cross shaft for a 2000 231s Massey. Been looking with no luck. Mine got bent pretty bad
From the online parts book for the 231S it appears there were two different shafts used depending on the brakes. What's the part number for the one you need? Where have you checked thus far?

It has dry, drum brakes and not found any part number for it yet. Still trying to find it.

I doubt you will find the part number on the shaft, using the parts books is best.

It appears the brakes themselves were the same, the difference is in the pedals and linkage, which I expect is where you will find the shaft you are asking about. The shaft I would call the cross shaft is the one which goes across the tractor to the left side is the one the pedals are on.

Direct links to books and drawings don't always work to that site. If it works, this link will go to the 231S parts book for you. The brakes are in the Rear Axle section. Look for Brake Pedals & Linkage in that section. You will find two different pedal and linkage arrangements.

MF 231S parts Book

If the direct link doesn't work, you can find the 231S parts book at this link:

AGCO Parts USA

When you get there click on Search by Parts Book. A new search box will open below that. Type 231S in the box and in a few seconds, you should see the title of the 231S parts book. Click on it and the parts book will open. There appear to be regular and ergonomic pedals. Find which your tractor has, then find the part number for the shaft. You can use the shaft part number to web search and call your dealer with.

Dieseltech, I removed the shaft this morning and waiting on neighbor to get home and try to straighten it with his press if not I found a man in North Dakota that said he has one but think I can. Thanks for the Links Jim but the shaft it shows is different then mine

Which shaft is it? Part Number?

I was able to take my time on a press and get the shaft straight. A new one is just under 52 dollars but they are on back order. I found a man in North Dakota that has one and he wanted 200 dollars wit shipping for it.Thank you for your help too

So, what do you hook a brake cross shaft to while in motion to bend it up? And I suspect it did not easily just slide out during removal? Just curious. I'm sure you are not the first to do such. Some of us need more of the back story. steve

So the first of last week we got 10 inch's of freezing snow. I have a steep driveway and the sun never hits it. I wrapped chains around the rear tires and was pushing the snow down it and across the street into my other field. On my way back up for the last time the bolt I had holding the end of the chain to the long part of the chain broke and before I could see this and stop it wrapped around the axle and broke the chain. I have done this with chains for so many years and never had any trouble. This was my last time for doing this bone head ideal. There is the story and no, It was ruff to get out bent but fixed now. Let this be a lesson for other's doing this as well for me.
