hello came across these at an estate sale. are these vin tags or something else

AC made SO many things. Most of the old farm equipment had the numbers stamped in, if anything. I would guess these are for some electrical/industrial machinery.

The 26-36 number might be a tractor #, from the early 20's up till they started naming them with letters of the alphabet. Although I have never heard of that #, there was a 25-40, and sometimes tractor #'s were changed, after testing at Nebraska. First # was drawbar HP, and the second was PTO or brake HP.
