break away switch

Go to TSC and buy one for trailer brakes. They complete circuit when pulled. I ran wires to each side of the coil. I"ve also seen people use an extension cord tied into the "run" wire with a male end used as a jumper with a loop on it to be pulled out breaking the circuit.

ehern, you should be able to buy them at most auto parts store for less than $ 10.00. I could ship you one for that. Good luck Gene

Get 110 3 prong plugs, male and female for extension cord repair. Make your own, everyone around here uses them. Wrap black tape around it so it won't fall out.

Keep in mind if you have a distributor, you need one that cuts out the voltage when disconnected. (Normally closed)

If you have a mag, you need one that's "normally open", as you kill a mag by letting it go to ground.

Yes they are right. I have one of Dennys and all it is a trailer break away switch with his name on it for 3 times the money. I think the way you wire it is ground it and run the other wire to the postive side of coil. If you have a prolem with it post it and i will check for sure,

The best and nicest one I know of is made from billet alunium. Call this seller-

If you are running points all you need is a plastic trailer breakaway with one side grounded and the other to the points side of the coil. When activated by pulling the plunger it will short the points to ground and you won't be running your ignition volts/amps to the rear of the tractor and back, If you are useing a PerTronics or other solid state system you could feed it through the relay and break the ground side of the relay with the same one wire from the back eliminating two wires and the associated losses from adding 10 feet of wire into your primary circuit. mEl
