This engine is in an old Simplicity Landlord garden tractor. My question is where does the wire from the one terminal key switch suppose to be hooked to the engine. Thanks for your help.

Wire from ign sw probably connected to points or ign coil on eng, depending on sn of eng, early units had point type ign, later units had solid state coils,on either system ign is grounded thru ign sw to stop eng when sw in stop/off position.

To check operation of ign sw,connect an ohmmeter or powered test light between term on sw & chassis/battery neg(-)with sw in stop/off position you should get a 0 ohms reading or light will turn on,turn sw to run/on position, meter reading will disappear or light will go out,if this is the way sw works connect wire from sw to points, tab on ign coil(solid state) or to stop terminal screw mounted ext on flywheel cover or bracket(if eng has)or ign kill lead connector.

That engine on my B-110 uses the key switch to ground the ignition circuit and kill the engine. It terminates at the switch and grounds through the metal in the dash.
