Brother Buys Small Skid Loader

If you'll remember about a month ago I was asking advice on a small skid loader to use in feeding sileage in our old stanchion dairy barn.

Well, the day before Thanksgiving my brother tried out (and ended up buying) a lightly used one which I think is nearly identical to the Toro Dingo. It is an Australian (if I remember right) built machine powered by a two cylinder Honda engine, 40" wide bucket, and approx. seven feet overall length.

We have since fabricated/installed a seat and expanded the bucket by raising up the sides and back. We also added 7" to the front of the bucket, tapered in slightly on each side. In so doing we at least trippled the volume of feed it will handle.

My brother is becoming more skilled at operating it each day. It's a pretty sweet little machine. So far, so good.

It might be the same as a Toro dingo. Make sure to test it before lifting the bucket high. Tripling the capacity of the bucket will more than triple how easy it tips forward. Especially if you go to use it for heavier materials. Install a good seat belt! Dave

They sure are slick. Dang them things are slick. Good deal. The rest of the house will be sitting around the Christmas table waiting to dig in, and he'll be out in the yard whizzing past the windows and stuff.

Sounds like it's a Kanga loader. Most of the attachments for these smaller units will interchange. I was watching some cans unload a large boulder from a flatbed truck for a landscaping project. The boulder was too big for the loader, launched the operator about 5' in the air, as the boulder dropped off the side of the truck. I know people who pay to take a ride like that!
