Buckthorn control

Buckthorn is a very invasive bush in my area and I can cut them down but they just push up more branches. Is there any way of controlling this weed? to stop it from re-sprouting?

Spray the stump with a strong round up as soon as you cut it. We have quite a bit of it in our area birds plant it every where. Randy

We have a hand tool, weed wrench, it rips it out. If the stump is too large, we cut the buckthorn, then poison.

Try Pathway. Works well on most trees. Just paint the cambium ring on the fresh stump.

Has any one heard of killing trees with a copper nail. Ma and Pa talked about it years back. I spose the arsenic in the copper has something to do with it. I have never tried it myself.

I use a basal bark treatment in the fall. It's a mixture of crossbow herbicide and deisel. Works pretty well.
