Bush Hogs JD or Landpride

It's time for a new rotary cutter and I'm debating between the JD MX8 series or the Landpride RCR Medium duty series.

The MX8 weighs a lot more, double deck design, and has a much higher tip speed.

The Landpride RCR3596 looks well built as well.

Anyone have experience with either and how does this double deck design of JD's pan out?

JOHN DEERE will stand behind the warranty! Land Pride only claims they have a warranty!!! They are a Woods mower with a lousy Woods Warranty. One guy posted about how a gearbox went out 1, or 2 years into the 5 year warranty, & Woods wouldnt cover squat!!! In 1993 I bought a JD 709, cut 4, & 5 inch material (occasionally) with it. After about a year noticed a weld cracking, & Deere fixed under Warranty "NO QUESTIONS ASKED!" John Deere still makes the 709, & at $5500 +/- currently are still selling them new after 35 years. My dad bought a new 709 in 1977, or 1978. If You buy the Land Pride; Demand to read the Warranty ahead of sighning Your name, read thouroughly!!!

Yes. Yes, we know that. Kind of like a cresent wrench. Thanks for the opinions. The MX series seems to look better but I just don't know how that "double deck" pans outs.

Buy the deere and maintain it well ,later it will be worth more than the landpride, and yes the double deck design works, the top is smooth and is easier to clean all the trash off it when done mowing.

The double deck design is not that new. JD has been using it for ten years or so. I have seen cut aways of the deck and it is well made. I like how you can clean the top off so much easier too.

As for the parts being High like another poster stated. I have found that Land Pride is not any cheaper than JD on parts. I know JD is much easier to get parts from.

There is no connection between Woods and Landpride, nor are they designed the same.

I'd buy a Bush Hog before I bought either Landpride or Deere, but that wasn't an option the OP offered.

Well, I opted for the JD MX6. I wanted the MX8 or MX10 but it would limit my ditch mowing and it was hard to justify the cost for a 8' or 10' cutter using it only a couple times a year. A 6' cutter has worked for me for 14 years so the MX6 ought to work as well.

I'm stepping up from a TSC low cost 6' KingKutter that really never did that well. Hopefully the MX6 does much better.
