butterfly sockets

here is a handy set of sockets i picked up the other day off the tool truck. they are called butterfly sockets. basically they are a box end wrench that opens and you can get them around fuel line fittings and such. put a rachet on em and break loose a tight fitting without stripping it out like an open end or line wrench.

they work good, you can wrap em around the line, slide them up on the fitting and they grip good. as long as the nut isnt rounded off first, they get em off with a lot less damage than a line wrench.

this set was 99.00, there is a large set that goes for 103.95, and there is a 3 pc heavy duty set that goes for 132.95.
my set covers 11mm,12-13mm,14,16mm, and also does 7/16,`1/2,9/16 and 5/8.

ohhhh.....rusty if you need a high end scanner......you need a modus. heres ours. loaded with domestic, european, asian, then medium and heavy duty trucks too. i also have the interface and 6 and 9 pin plugs for the semi tractors.
sweeeeeetttttttt!!!!!

T-Vet, for a high end scan tool, Snap-On's Modis is one of the best, but they hit you for $500 twice a year to keep it up to date. Can't skip updates either. You can save some $ by going with a Solus Pro, but you're giving up a 4 channel lab scope. You really need that lab scope with today's electronics. Matco's OTC based scan tool looks like they've caught up with Snap-On. I like theirs because it is wireless. Haven't actually used it though.

Snap off never got me breathing heavy other then there sockets in the 6 point some specialty wrenches and there puller set and a few other trinket's . Back when i had the shop open SanpOFF would stop by once every couple weeks Trying to pedal something to me . Use to come on Thursday after lunch , one day he started on the scan tool thing with me . Well let see here i work on older tractors don't ask me to fix your car pick up or lawn mower .I have a older Allied dist. strobe and i do have and older Snap Off scope that works sometimes and there is no parts to fix it anymore. But he keeps on about this MT2500 that we really need for my pick up and my buddy's and the wifes car and on and on . And it will do everything we need on what we have and if we happened to buy new he can upgrade it for just a few Snap OFF bucks . He runs off to the truck and brings in this box and says here i am going to leave it with you and you and your buddy can play with it . HE left that THING for two weeks and we did play with it . Never gave me a price till after he came back and told that he would just put that on my TAB , yea wright he wanted back then 4500 for it . I really did not like it .I have been looking at the OTC's and would like to find one that is good to say 05 with the Lab scope and up graded with heavy duty software just in case i do something real stupid and buy a large car.

Now it maybe just the ticket but remember i don't want it to try and work on cars full time . All i need is one that will take care of what i have now and maybe up to 05 and heavy truck. Been thinking along the line of OTC . AND that CRS thing that's ok just never call me late for dinner.

Good thing you didn't buy the 2500, they don't and won't service them anymore you have to buy what's pictured below modis.

I hope it was a while back that he tried to get you to buy that MT2500. They don't support those anymore. No more updates available. All I can say is the OTC Genesis is not worth paying for over a Nemesis. At least the one the service manager at my shop bought anyway. It can't command anything on or off, a badly needed function. The other problem is it can't communicate with all modules.

Aww, that MODIS is old news. You need the new touch screen Snap On scan tool. I don't remember the name, but it's neat. I played with one a little bit and liked it a lot more than the MODIS we have. Only two problems with the new one, it doesn't support the heavy duty trucks yet, and the price tag. I think somewhere around 8 to 10 thousand.

Ya know what maybe i'll just forget about all this hightech stuff as i was thinking about the genesis and so here again i was LYEd to If it will not do it all then why have it . Just more junk with a big price tag . Here again i think that what i should do is start looking for a 68 Plymouth Road Runner and a 73 Ford F250 4X4 . I don't need any hightech junk to fix either one and don't even need a book. All info on either one is well burnt into the old computer bank . And you could fix it wright the first time. Not like the wife Durango We have fought with Chrysler since day one and they have tryed everything to cure the miss in 2 and 7 and guess what it still has the miss . And no i am not going to lay out the price of a tractor for a piece of junk. Thanks for the insight.

Its my understanding that it can b updated BUT you will loose some of the older info,,, gotta make room for the new info,,, I upgraded to a Solus Pro and never looked back,,, already have 3 lab scopes so no need to another,,, if one can not make it make money then I would not recommend investing in it,,, the solus is the best all around scan tool I have ever owned,,, OTC just came out with a new'n "Pegisys" that I would like to play with,,, theirs some good PC based software out their cheap that will run with the best of'em
