can a LOW float level cause this??

Rebuilt carb on my 2N. Float WAS set closer to 3/16...sheet says set to 1/4 inch. Did so, NOW need to choke it to start,"cold", even on a 90 degree day! Hot starts REALLY suck. Wasn't like this before. Tank and all 3 filters have been cleaned. Ignition is all new. Once you do get it started, all seems ok, tho you have to keep choke on a bit (30 sconds or so)even on a hot day. Acts like it is gas starved...NOT flooded. Fuel line is clear, gas runs out when bowl drain plug is removed. Could lowering the float make it act like this???

Hank........what else did ya do to yer carb??? You've either gotta gasket leak leaning out yer carb that yer choke usage is compensating for.....OR.....you gott yer idlejets CLOGGED.

Heck, up-yer float level to 3/16 and answer yer own question........respectfully, Dell

Guess I'll blow em out again while i'm in there, tho cleaned em once already!! New gaskets, but tightened em the second time I opened it up, because it was seeping gas a bit at the top/bottom gasket line...reset carb level to spec after it seemed to be leaking out the air inlet side after 1st assembly....figured it was a pc of gunk in the needle....but float had been set high all the time we ran it before now....needed choke then ONLY below 55 or so degrees....NEVER when hot, or FLOOD TIME!!!!
Now I got the OPPOSITE extreme!!!! will pull it tomorrow and see.....
Main thing was I wasn't sure it altering the bowl level could cause this symptom or not....
as to a air/vacuum leak....how hard IS it to warp the top or the carb when snugging down the 4 top screws????

Warp that hunk of cast iron with 4 little screws, not likely, but bad gasket fit from placement/shrink, etc. more likely.

Hank.......surprizingly enuff, the top of the carb is EAZY to warp. Do a search of the "archives" at the top of this great N-Board for "how-to" unwarp yer carb top. Hassta to do with sandpaper on mirror........Dell
