Can I use a Jet Star 3 starter on the original Jet Star?

The starter on my Jet Star is fried. It seems that the Jet Star 3 starter was upgraded with solenoid actuation rather than manual, and is easier to find. Is a new ignition switch or push-button all I need for the upgrade?

Jet Star is a one bolt. Jet 3 is 3 bolt flange mount.

Yes, I just removed the old starter with one bolt, and looked at the image of the Jet 3 starter with three bolts. How could I have missed that? thank you, thank you!

My rebuilder can transform a 1 bolt starter to a solinoid, try a local one,

A good starter shop should be able to help you. You might have to change the nose cone. My JS3 lost the starer last fall and we went through 2 starters plus new parts to make one. The other problem is havings access to all the used housings etc. Doing so one can make a lot of things possible. Not having them it quite costly if you have to buy them.
I looked briefly for new or rebuilt and found one for like $380 try napa. good luck

My rebuilder can transform a 1 bolt starter to a solinoid, try a local one, They install a different post coming out of the starter so you can use a Ford type solinoid mounted where ever you'd like

I like the idea of swapping the nose cone. Did Dana use the same motor housing on the 3-bolt starters as the 1-bolt?
