My carb was leaking on the 8n so I took it off to check the float and needle/seat. I found out the throttle shaft seal wasn't even in its rightful place. After looking it over, the shaft has a lot of up and down play in it. The hole it goes thru is egg shaped and it couldn't have made a good seal. I read that you can put a bushing in it to take out the slop. Do I have to drill it out to accept the bushing or does it just slide into the hole before the seal? This site doesn't have the bushing. Can I buy it locally along with a complex carb rebuild kit. I was thinking napa would have this stuff. This may have been my hard starting and missing problem all along! What do you think?
