carb settings on rebuilt A

I am currently in limbo waiting for some parts to come back for my 52 A. Getting a new head and manifold, and took the block to 6.125...my question then being: what all carb adjustments should I be ready to look into once I bolt it back together??

assuming that it won't run like it did before I tore it apart, what all changes will need to be done (if anything major) to account for the projected change in air/fuel increase with the new head I will be running (Ray's).

any and all legitimate information is appreciated.... thanks

A carburetor is a metering device that mixes a given amount of fuel with a given amount of air moving thru it. You should not have to do much to the settings to get the tractor started and not much at all to set it if it was close to proper BEFORE the tear down. It will automatically mix more fuel to the increase of air moving thru it because of venturi effect.

The carburetor has adjustable jetting. YOU simply back out the jet needle to richen the jetting or turn it in to lean the jetting. There are two adjustment needles, one for idle and one for high RPM. The one on the left side of the engineis for Idle.

hey, just saw some old posts that you were looking for things to help your A...don't know what you've done yet but i have stock bore M&W high compression pistons for sale is interested

I had to have my carb hogged out now on the outside it"s a dlyx72 but on the inside it"s just a tinch bigger than a dltx51. It ran ok with the stock carb but under a load it had a knock just couldn"t get enough air through it sure you can open the needle and get a rich mixture but there"s still plenty of room in those jugs for more air/fuel. Your trying to fill a 6.125x6.75 jug through a inch hole. The carb has to match the rest of your parts so how much to take out of it depends on the head and everything else

Thanks for teh offer but I finally found someone to bore the block 125 over and i put the aluminum pistons in. Wish I could have foudn out BEFORE all the trouble finding someone to bore the block,,,,,,,,,,, what a headache!!111
