I just pulled the last of my carrot patch, getting them ready
for the freezer.

I never used a peeler because I thought it took too much off the
carrot outer layer. Thus, I just do like my Mom and Granny did
and use the back(rib) of my paring knife to scrape the thin
layer of the carrot skin off.

Any of Y'all ever use this method?

We use a vegetable brush (pretty stiff bristles) and running water to get soil off in the "texture" of the carrot, then cut to lengths that fit well in canning jars. Yum all winter! Jim

I read the replies and I’m not condoning this (if your wife asks). We put the in an old pillow case tied shut and throw them in the washing machine. No soap or softener.
