upcoming auction list a 1000 case dozer with engine work needed. has a diesel in it. was wondering how hard engine parts are to find. i am guessing it will bring scrap. i just don't want to buy a boat anchor. i don't have a boat. lol what size and capacity would she be

1000 ,if angle blade blade 10' if tilt blade
it is about 9'. As dozer it would weigh about
17,000 ,or with ripper 18,000 . It will push
a blade full quite well. Engine is cont'l and
is 100 gross hp (JD 382 ). I have several 1000's
2 of which I have had for 40 years and they have
been good to me.

George is that not the same engine used in a massey harris 55 tractor,?

Yes, it is basically the same with several
differences. MH engine is partial flow oil sys,
has no balancer,and runs at 1500 because of no
balancer, uses american bosch fuel sys, block
may or may not be drilled for balancer and
full flow oil sys,& my guess is that it is
about 50+ hp.

Case is full flow,1800 or 2000 rpm ,roosa
master fuel, lanchester balancer,oil cooler,
and is 100 gross hp -87 net hp,oil pump is
on the balancer not on the front main.

just got back from auction. The dozer brought 1550. had a stuck engine and really nice tracks. hope it is not headed for junk but more than i wanted to spend on her today. thanks to george for the help
