There's an auction coming up with a case ih 1594 with a loader, around 2000 hours.Don't see many advertised or hear much about them. Are they a decent tractor? Thanks.

My dad has 1394 case ih it"s a good tractor but the parts are expensive and some what hard to get aftermarket. I would steer clear of any case during the case international transtional period. Just my 2 cents jordan

It"s a David Brown on steroids. Keep moving unless it"s awful good and disposable cheap.
They wern"t bad tractors in many respects, but they wern"t great either. Hydra-Shift wasn"t known to be very reliable around here... and parts have been a challenge for some time.

I have seen one of them. Didn't seem to be too bad once it was started. Guy that owned it didn't seem to have too many complaints about it. It was a miserable beast to get started though. No matter, cold or hot, you could spend a long time at it and still not have it running.

We have a 1690 which is the same basic tractor. One word explains it all - RUN

Where do I start....too small of a radiator as it over heats, poor hydraulic system that I think the russians designed as it has more leaks than a sprinkler. Power shift is weak. Use it on a disk and it wont last.

Ours has almost 5000 hours and here is what has been worked on:

3 hydraulic pumps

New block at 1200 hours

new steering motor

trans seal leaked requiring a split - 2 times

rebuilt Minimec injector pump

new valves at 4700 hours as the valves were chipping and it was getting hard to start

revamped steel hydraulic lines to hoses as they cracked from vibration.

new alternator

new AC compressor and hoses

It"s a rebagged David Brown. This was DB first attempt at a 6 cyl diesel and they got a few things wrong.

David Browns, you either love them or loathe them. The 990 we had earned the dubious distinction of been the new tractor that had the shortest stay on the farm. During the 1980"s I was talking to a guy who went around the factory for a visit. He said that outside the factory was a field and some of the tractors parked on it had been stood there for so long that grass was growing through the footplates. To finish up , many DB dealers were virtually giving them away. That company did not "go to the wall" without a reason.

i had a 1494 but i sold it last year. had over 5000 hrs 4wd and had a 74L loader which was one of the best loaders you could get for them. we used ares to push silage and corn and drove it till the clutch was completely gone. then it sat for about 3yrs got it running and sold it for 4800. i liked it but everybody that bought it over heated it.
