Hello, can anyone give me some info about this tractor, such as: power steering/triple range transmission/ live pto/live hydraulics/weight, and what does the "L" designation mean? pretty good machine?
Thanks

last weekend , we learned B L means low geared ,,.. However ,,,.That may be ,,, My nephew has a 511 b L that goes just as fast in the slowest gear as my 511b ,.same RpM,..same 36 inch tire ,.. and both will Scat down the road ,,,but we have not took time to line them up

There were lots of options on the 300B tractors. There were 3 tranny options, straight 4spd, (no live pto) tripple range (constant running(with or without a non live pto). Hydraulics were optional as well as power steering. Hyd. was live if equiped. Eagle hitch was also an option. The "L" stands for low speed trans. There was also a high speed and regular trans. Many styles of front and rear axle types were available.
Have I confused you yet?

Yup, Know what you mean. My 631L goes 25 mph in 4th high. Sooo how fast is a plain 631 in 4th high??? Always been in the family and no gear changes.

Power steering was available for the 311b, but it is rarely seen. It's in the parts book. I have a power steering set up to put on my 311b.
The live power works via a hand clutch which stops the transmission.
Weight is around 3400lbs.
I grew up on a 311b in the 60's and 70's. We put thousands of hours on the tractor with very little trouble. I think the 300 series was one of the best tractors Case ever built. The later 430/530, 470/ 570 tractors had independent pto and better power steering, but will bring a premium price compared to a 311b.
I gave $700 for my wide front 311b in non running condition, but was told by an honest seller that it needed distributor, pto and hyd work. I had the parts on hand to fix the tractor and had it going in less than a days time. It has become one of the most used tractors we have.My youngest son has fell in love with it just like I did my dads when I was a kid.
