Case 430 w 201 gasser problem

The starter cranks the motor just fine, and I give it choke and nothing happens, have plenty of spark, fuel is getting to intake, I just tried ether and it stopped the motor dead during cranking...
Not sure what this is a sign of, maybe some of you guys can help me with this problem

Probably firing too early, be way careful with that either. Be sure the choke is closing all the way so you are for sure sucking up some gas.

would you happen to know what to check for as for as settings on this motor?
I have the pertronix ignition on it.

It sounds like a similar issue I had with my 211B I bought a pertronix for it and the motor would just spin over and every once in a while kick backwards.. I called Pertronix help line (909)-547-9058 They were very helpful, I took the Pertronix and rotated it 180 degrees and she ran, not great... but enough to time it correctly.. They admitted they may have an issue with the Distrib plate not being stamped correctly for the Prestolite disrib # IAD 6003 2F is this what you have??

dbeiter: I know it is in fact a prestolite distributor, not sure exactly which one though.
It used to run great with minimal start up issues, but lately it's been a real pain in the arse if you know what i mean.
Do you think the plate spun? if I recall there are 2 screws that hold it down correct?
I will have to check into it further as soon as weather breaks again.
One major problem I have though is I do not have the specifications for this engine. If I had them I could troubleshoot more timing issues or clearances and adjustments.

I don't know what you have done thus far, but I have had two condenser issues in the past year. They make you want to pull your hair out diagnosing them.

Adirondack: I have the pertronox electronic ignition installed in my distributor. it eliminates points and condensors. Which is the same problem I was having before switching it over was continuous points and condensors problems.
It works like a charm up until just before this winter, and lately I play heck trying to start it. I haven't been able to start it yet this week since trying on Monday.
I hope it is something simple. I'm kinda tired of dumping money into this thing for what it's worth to me.

this may be a mute question but do you have the correct coil and is it hooked up correct? if you have checked this already disreguard,I have a 530 gas that I have had for almost 20 years that is stock in Ign and half only had to replace the points once and what voltage do you get to the coil/points just some thoughts as was stated these little things can drive you crazy,CNT

I purchased the coil that pertronix reccommended for this set up, it's typical of a 12 volt can style coil.
I'm not sure how to test the voltage at the coil, can you advise?

wet wires? This time of year things get more mositure inside with the temperature swings. Just a thought. You could still get some spark but maybe not enough to start. ????

Do the plugs have gas on them (flooded) after cranking for a while?

Good luck.

you need a volt meter, unhook the wire feeding the coil, red wire there black wire to ground with key on, also posts on coil usualy are backwords of type of battery grounding not sure with you eletronic set up though, with a interally regulated coil should be same as battery voltage unregulated 6-8 volts hope this helps CNT

Okay guys, tractors running great.
Not sure how, but the timing was off. I actually removed the distributor, check the gear, looked like the distributor has not been removed since built. The pertronix must have somehow slipped time or whatever however, but that was the problem.
I sure do appreciate your input and help with this, now to catch up on some chores, barn needs manure cleaned out and have to move 30 bales.

Just to let you know, I had to turn my distributor about 60 degree or so, and the tractor fired right up, no ether.
Thank you for your input, you deserve a giant gold star! I'd buy you a beer if I could! Thank you
